The hygiene staff of Door Creek Dental visited Chicago for a national dental hygiene convention the last weekend in July. Chicago was host this year to the RDH Under One Roof convention. RDH stands for Registered Dental Hygienist. This is an annual convention that draws hygienists from all over the United States. The seminar ran from Thursday through Sunday offering over 50 courses.

Some of the courses were hands on, allowing the hygienist to learn all aspects of new procedures and products. Other courses were lectures, updating hygienists on various aspects of oral health as well as total body health. Some of the courses that the hygiene team from DCD attended informed us of – Diabetes and Obesity impact on Oral Health; Soft Tissue Management, Healthy Mouth, Healthy Patient; Search and Destroy – Infection Control; Forensic Dentistry; Laser and Lights for patients; and many more. Along with the courses and lectures, the hygiene staff was able to attend an exhibit hall each day. The exhibits had representatives from different dental suppliers all around the world displaying their products as well as educating the hygienists of the benefits their products will have for our patients. The hygiene team, as well as the patients of Door Creek Dental, are very fortunate that Dr. Kirkpatrick and Dr. Andersen have such a high value of continuing education. This allows Door Creek Dental to always provide our patients with the best care possible.
